Preparing Students for the World of Work

This session will expose participants to a hands-on approach to understanding how the World of Work is an essential element of the Cajon Valley modernized curriculum. By using the RIASEC model to determine employment personalities, the World of Work not only gives every child a chance to learn about many careers, but also helps every child determine which career fits their personality, strengths, skills, and work values. Students involved in World of Work will not only know the "how and what," but they will understand "the why" to everything they are learning. With each lesson they have at school, children will see how the lessons involving everyday subjects relate to a new field and why it is important to learn those skills and values. Content updates and research related to the WOW program will also be presented during this session.
